prioritization

Problem with prioritization?

Problem with prioritization? Sounds familiar?

I was sitting recently and thinking about starting to collaborate with a new professional as things are moving fast in business, and I am not able to manage as it is anymore. And on top of that life is changing so quickly and most probably it will never get slower! So, trying to keep up with everything in your life and balancing work and family life is a real challenge for many of you,  women, out there. I bet, especially those who have children, like myself! Therefore, a top skill for a woman is the ability to prioritize. Often, you are forced to complete all the tasks on your to-do list, and so you do not pay enough attention to living mindfully and focusing on what is essential in your life and career.

Do you see yourself there?

I was there too, trying to do everything myself, keeping control, perfecting things, doing activities I did not genuinely enjoy, and working long hours while being not engaged entirely in activities with my family 🙁 Yes, it was a killer!  And you see, it is only sometimes when you have a life-changing event that you get some perspective and suddenly see what is important to you! When my health overall began to decline, I understood that it is time to make a smart decision which direction to go, with whom to cooperate, reduce my activities, and as a natural consequence, I sharpened my focus. And that allowed me to properly prioritize. A life-changing decision! And do not forget that you have a life and needs outside of your work that is also a priority, so ensure the job gets done but set realistic expectations at the same time.

‘Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase-just the first step.’

– Martin Luther King, Jr.

My dear, remember that it is essential to living each day fully and finding the joy in it. To do this, you need to focus on what is most important, outsource the less important and stop worrying and dwelling on things that do not matter.

I know it is really difficult, but my tip for you is to make habits from the following activities:

  • Build confidence in the areas where it is needed (crucial, as you will immediately feel more in control!
  • Practice gratefulness (I believe, if you are grateful for small things, more significant will happen naturally)
  • Meditate to calm your mind and gain more clarity on your direction/decision
  • Get rid of limiting beliefs that stop you from taking action (be aware of those first!)

If you don’t know how to start and feel overwhelmed by all your activities, decisions and expectations, don’t hesitate to contact me or schedule a complimentary session to see how I can help you to tackle your life/career challenges.  https://calendly.com/alenahielema
