Personal Development Profit #1 Self-awareness

I’m passionate about personal development. Since I was in my early twenties, I was already consuming books related to searching for your purpose, communication, confidence, setting up goals, excellence, etc. And taking into account that my mother is a psychologist it couldn’t be any different, I guess 🙂

Today, it’s the 1st of March, and I thought it would be an excellent start to present a short series of profits you can get from investing in personal development. And yes, professional development is crucial in your career and business, I get it, but believe me, if you miss this part of working on your growth it’s not going to help you get further with fulfillment. I know one thing or two about it, from personal experience, working with clients and reading/doing some research & I want to share it with you..

So, it’s all about investing in yourself so that you can manage yourself effectively regardless of what life/business/job may bring your way. It allows you to be super proactive, and rather than waiting for great things to happen you will be getting out there and make them happen. You may not always achieve your objective, but you will experience a more abundant and more rewarding life when you commit to pursuing your goals. Yes, your own instead of someone else’s or required by society. Making that commitment to personal development is the first step on the path to PERSONAL FULFILLMENT.

And remember that this investment is something that no one will ever take away from you. So, it is worth to pursue it, I guess! So, here we go!

#1 Self-awareness

Personal development begins with self-awareness, my dear! You get to know who you are, your core values, the purpose you wish to pursue, and your beliefs. True fulfillment can never come from pursuing other people’s dreams. If you want to achieve lasting happiness, you need to design your life based on who YOU are. Then you can accomplish your own goals and objectives. And self-awareness is the first fundamental step in the personal development process.

You continuously receive information about what you want from life, but you don’t “accept” these messages, you are just not aware. It would surprise many people how many coaching clients I have spoken to who have NO IDEA what they want from life! I know, it sounds weird. They have spent their life missing the feedback and messages, which would lead to their personal growth. And these messages show up in the form of contrast and feelings.

If you don’t like something, or you don’t like a situation the way it currently is…imagine if you took the opportunity to ask yourself questions such as: Is this how I want it? How would I like it to be? As this is not what I want, what do I want? If this situation is the way I wanted it to be, how would it look, feel? Having all the resources I needed to change the situation, what changes would I make? Answering these questions you get more explicit about what you want from your life/career.

What is your take on that? Leave a comment and share your experience.
Yours, Alena
