Personal Development Profit #2 Direction

In the previous article, I wrote about self-awareness and the importance of raising it. So, once you raised it you are now more clear on the things you wish to achieve from life. And believe me, decision-making becomes much easier! Activities/tasks which used to take a big chunk of your time, no longer make it into your (probably already very long!) to-do list. You start to realise that they do not necessarily move you towards your objectives, so they are not worthy of your time. It’s crucial!

This is where many people make a major mistake with goals. They see them as something extra that you add to your life. You find time to work on your goals when you have everything else done. But when you set goals this way, you think you are going to make your life bigger and better by adding more to it. What actually happens is that you make your life smaller by overloading yourself with things that don’t really need to be done. I was there too!!! But if your goals are set properly they really reduce your workload and improve the quality of everything you do. So simple! The real magic of goals and personal development is not just that they tell you what you need to be doing. They tell you everything that you should NOT be doing.

The biggest mistake in personal development is trying to do more.
If you want to improve, the real key to success is to do less and, do it better!

I understand that very well now. But it required my brain discipline and setting priorities. And yes, this week is International Women’s Week and I was invited to attend wonderful events several times in Amsterdam to celebrate women achievements. For me, it required lots of discipline to get there early morning but I did it. Busy time, lots of energy involved but it’s once a year and it was super important work-wise :)!

And when you have a clear sense of direction, you can eliminate anything which does not take you in that direction. Yes! When you have done that, you can use the 80/20 principle to identify the most important few things/actions which take you in that direction with least effort and super speed!

Personal development and a sense of direction allow you to shift your focus from quantity to quality.
Even in your leisure time, do more and invest yourself more fully in it.

Good luck with getting a sense of direction & let me know your thoughts!
